Dungeon Timer keeps track of the time elapsed in veteran-mode group dungeons, to help with timing for speed-run and trifecta achievements.

Usage:

There's nothing for the user to do: it just works. The timer will automatically appear when the player is in a veteran-mode group dungeon, and the timer will automatically start when the player first enters combat or crosses a certain threshold.

By default, the timer will appear in the upper-left corner of the screen; it can be repositioned by dragging it around with the mouse.

Caveats:

Unlike trials, there is no way to read the official server timer for a dungeon. So while the timer shown by Raidificator for a trial is guaranteed to always be correct, this is not the case for this addon. In general, the time shown is correct or very close to correct, but there are some edge cases.
  • 23 group dungeons have their speed-run timers start when you first enter combat. For these dungeons, Dungeon Timer will start its timer when the player first enters combat.
  • 4 group dungeons have their speed-run timers start when one group member cross a certain threshold. For these dungeons, Dungeon Timer will start is timer when it detects that the player has crossed this physical threshold.
  • 11 group dungeons have their speed-run timers start when one group member cross a certain threshold, but the crossing of those thresholds cannot be detected by addons, so Dungeon Timer will start its timer when the player first enters combat.
    • Generally, the first enemies are sufficiently close to the threshold that the discrepancy from this approximation would only be a matter of seconds and will most likely be inconsequential.
    • This is most problematic if someone crosses the threshold but then the group waits around before actually starting the dungeon. But you should know not to do that in the first place.
  • Dungeon Timer will not report the correct time for players who are separated from the group when the timer is supposed to start.
    • Example 1: If a player ports into a dungeon a minute after the rest of the group has already started, the addon will not show the correct time for that player (but the times shown by the addons for the other group members should be correct).
    • Example 2: If one group member runs ahead in City of Ash II and enters the Inner Grove long before the other players do, that first player's addon will show the correct time (since the timer starts when the first player crosses the physical threshold) while the other players who lagged behind will have timers that start late (since the addon is only able to detect when the player has crossed the threshold, not when another player has crossed it).
    • In practice, these are just exceptional edge cases--groups that are attempting a speed-run or trifecta achievement are almost always going to be starting the dungeon together rather than blundering in piecemeal.
  • Leaving the dungeon midway--i.e., porting out of the instance and porting back in--will cause the addon to reset the timer. Crashes to desktop or forced game closures might cause a timer reset. Relogging, reloading, disconnecting, or unforced game closures will not cause a timer reset, however.
